Gull-watching have been productive in Southern Finland after Christmas with two Iceland and several Glaucous Gulls. It's been a record year for Iceland Gull in the country with at least five different individuals. Undoubtly last winters influx in Western Europe have something to do with "our" birds.
Jaakko Esama found the first Glaugous Gull (above) for the season from local Santakangas dumb yesterday. I couldn't relocate it today but found weird dark adult gull instead (pics below). It was bit smaller than average female argentatus and seemed to be little longer winged also. It had mantle shade comparable to heuglini. Legs were yellowish-pink (or something). Wingtip pattern is ok for Herring although there's quite a lot black in P5. I guess it's very dark argentatus or some LBBG x Herring hybrid.
Isolokkia en tänään löytänyt, mutta viis merikotkaa, kaks kanahaukkaa ja hiirihaukka pitivät lokit enimmäkseen sumuisella taivaalla.
